What is PrEP?

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (or PrEP) is a daily medicine taken to prevent HIV. PrEP can stop HIV from taking hold and spreading throughout your body. When taken daily, PrEP is highly effective for preventing HIV from sex or drug use.

What is PeP?

PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) are antiretroviral medicines (ART) taken after being potentially exposed to HIV to prevent becoming infected and must be started within 72 hours after a recent possible exposure to HIV.

HAART: Stands for highly active antiretroviral therapy. It is a combination of various antiretroviral medications taken together as a combination regimen to control the HIV virus found within the blood.

Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis C virus. Chronic hepatitis C is a serious disease than can result in long-term health problems, even death. Many people might not be aware of their infection because they are not clinically ill.

HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. It weakens a person’s immune system by destroying important cells that fight disease and infection. No effective cure exists for HIV. But with proper medical care, HIV can be controlled.

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs), also referred to as sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), are infections that are commonly spread by sexual activity. Over 30 different STI's exist, and in many instances they do not initially cause symptoms.
